The SV 971A is a Class 1 Sound Level Meter designed for professional acoustic measurements. The meter is fully type approved to Class 1 in accordance with ANSI/ASA S1.4 / IEC 61672. It provides a total 120 dB measurement range from 17 dBA up to 137 dBA Leq (and 140 dB Peak) in a single span. The meter is small and light: it weighs just 225 grams and measures 232.5 × 56 × 20 mm, and is perfect for hand-held noise surveys.
The meter is used across occupational, environmental and building acoustics, both hand-held and on a tripod. Dedicated firmware features and mobile apps make these measurements faster and more intuitive. Use of apps in the field gives a second advantage: the operator stays clear of the sound field and does not disturb the measurement. Its extremely efficient powering lasts up to 24 h, and the four AAA batteries swap in seconds instead of a charging break. With the SvanLINK interface the meter works in noise telemetry.

The instrument comes with the SV 7152 microphone, SV 18A preamplifier, SA 22 windscreen, USB-C cable, four AAA batteries, a microSD card and a transport box. Four packages extend it by task: P1 adds octave analysis and audio recording, P2 adds RT60 and STIPA, P4 adds octave analysis and RT60, and P3 contains all four functions.
Firmware functions — octave analysis, audio event recording, RT60 and STIPA — and field accessories such as a calibrator, a waterproof case and a microphone extension cable can be added separately. Accredited calibration to IEC 61672-3 is available for the instrument.

The SV 971A is a class 1 meter, the accuracy occupational noise surveys require. It calculates sound exposure alongside the level, following the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95, NIOSH or ACGIH criteria in the United States and the ISO 9612 method in Europe, where Directive 2003/10/EC and national law set the limits.

STIPA is a licensed option. The SV 971A then measures the speech transmission index by that method to IEC 60268-16. The test signal is played through the public address system itself or through the SP 90 Talkbox, and the app collects the results and builds the report.

The SV 971A is a class 1 instrument. Real-time octave analysis identifies the source when a complaint has to be attributed.
