PC Software for Health and Safety

Supervisor

Supervisor is a PC software package for health and safety specialists. The package supports all Svantek instruments for the health and safety market. The plug & play connection automatically detects noise dosimeters, sound level meters and vibration dosimeters to configure the measurement settings and download the data. Every instrument that connects to Supervisor is remembered together with information such as the uploaded settings, firmware version, as well as the calibration validity date and instrument clock time. When data is downloaded, they are automatically categorised by measurement time and assigned to the instrument’s serial number.

Supervisor is designed to meet the needs of different users. In the case of simple applications that only require the analysis of the main results such as LAeq, LAFmax and Lcpeak, the program offers quick previews and reporting without the need to open any data files. More advanced applications are handled within sessions where the user can choose the type of analysis to be performed. Those who draw up noise or vibration reports on a daily basis will appreciate the report templates which, once created, can be applied to different sets of measurement files.

Supervisor Lite

Simple mode for occupational noise and vibration

Supervisor Lite was created with the focus on an easy and intuitive design, which is perfect for users who are new to Supervisor and the field of Noise & Vibration Dosimetry. The enhanced user experience offers a complete tool box meeting the needs of both new and established users of the Supervisor software. Established users who are used to working with Supervisor can easily switch between the two running modes during all of Supervisor’s different work stages. Supervisor Lite introduces a new function – the Validation Tool. A module that allows for quick & easy validation of results by removing erroneous data such as invalid noise sources, mechanical shocks to the instrument interpreted as acoustic impulses and data gathered when the dosimeter wasn’t being properly worn.

Noise exposure

Noise dose and noise exposure panels in accordance with ISO and OSHA

The Noise Exposure panel estimates the daily noise exposure level according to the ISO 9612 standard, using data that represents the summary results of the Leq measurements. The Noise Dose panel estimates the Noise dose and the Time Weighted Average Noise Level (TWA) based on the measured LAV data, according to the OSHA HC and OSHA PEL standards. The resulting Dose and TWA values are presented for the total exposure time (sum of exposure times of all tasks), for a standard day (8 h) and for a custom projected duration.

Hearing protection selection

Three methods in accordance with ISO 4869-2: SNR, HML and OCTAVES

Workers should wear hearing protectors if the noise or sound level at the workplace exceeds 85 decibels. The choice of hearing protectors depends on the noise level in the working environment. Therefore, the choice of the most suitable hearing protector should be based on standardised noise measurement. Each hearing protector has attenuation characteristics expressed in units of three methods: SNR (Single Number Rating), HML (High, Medium and Low frequency method), and the most accurate method requiring measurement in 1/1 Octave bands. Supervisor supports all three methods, allowing its users to build up a hearing protectors database. The calculation is performed automatically after selecting the data files that contain the noise results required by the selected method.

Hand-Arm Vibration Exposure

A(8) daily vibration exposure calculator in accordance with ISO 5349-2

The Supervisor software offers a range of tools dedicated for hand-arm vibration measurements. Once the software is connected to a vibration dosimeter, the user can upload predefined measurement settings, making the configuration easier than ever. The downloaded files are automatically grouped and can be easily found using the hand-arm vibration data filter. Basic results are accessible for reporting without needing to open any data files. Calculating the A(8) vibration exposure in accordance with ISO 5349-2 can be performed on a group of selected files, e.g. from different jobs and tasks. The Supervisor also supports filtering the vibration time history log files, e.g. automatic marking of periods with a defined contact force threshold.

Whole-Body Vibration Exposure

A(8) daily vibration exposure calculation in accordance with ISO 2631-1

The Supervisor software supports whole-body vibration meters including SV 100A and SV 106A. The Supervisor uses the USB connection with instruments to configure the measurement settings and download the files. For easy identification, the downloaded files are automatically grouped under the instrument type. The A(8) vibration exposure calculator can perform an analysis on a single or multiple measurement files. The built-in whole-body vibration report template helps new users to prepare measurement reports.

Reporting

What You See is What You Get!

Supervisor creates reports in a very quick and easy way. The user selects a file and opens it with a double-click. The measurements are automatically grouped into context panels which can be opened and closed with a single click. The panels can be arranged via drag-and-drop. Then you only need to click on the MS Word™ icon to print a report. The report layout can be saved at any time as a template and used for other files.

Whole-Body Vibration

A(8) vibration exposure calculator

The ISO 2631-1 standard defines the general methodology to assess whole-body vibration exposure. These measurements can be performed with the SV 106 human vibration analyser and the SV 100A whole-body vibration dosimeter. The measurements downloaded into the Supervisor database are assigned either to a particular user or to a task while all calculations are performed automatically. The measurements are recorded in m/s2 and are directly comparable to the limits defined by European Directive 2002/44/EC. It is also possible to convert these units into Points, which are widely used within the health & safety sector. By clicking on Mode, you can switch to calculations based on VDV, which is often necessary when the vibration is characterised as impulsive.
