Real-Time Noise Monitoring Ensures Compliance and Community Wellbeing in Goa
Goa is renowned for its nightlife, beach parties, and cultural events. However, tourism-driven activities often generate excessive noise, disturbing residents and risking regulatory non-compliance. To address this, GSPCB partnered with Welan Technologies to install SVANTEK SV 200A Class 1 Noise Monitoring Stations, creating one of India’s first large-scale proactive noise monitoring networks.
The project was executed by Welan Technologies in collaboration with the Goa State Pollution Control Board. Their responsibilities included supplying, commissioning, and maintaining SV 200A monitoring stations at 12 coastal locations. GSPCB used the collected data for regulatory enforcement, compliance verification, and community protection.
Challenge
Balancing Tourism Growth with Noise Regulation in Goa
The main challenge was to manage high noise levels from clubs, festivals, and beachside activities while supporting Goa’s thriving tourism economy. Authorities needed continuous monitoring, real-time alerts, and reliable compliance data to minimize complaints, protect residents, and maintain Goa’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination.
