The Building Acoustics Assistant is the smartphone application created for sound insulation measurements with SVANTEK sound level meters. Using the Bluetooth connection, the app configures the sound level meter settings in accordance with ISO 16283 and guides the user step-by-step through the sound insulation measurements. The application can also manage two sound level meters, making the measurement procedures two times faster!

 

 

 

Sound Insulation Measurements

Calculated sound insulation results are displayed in the Assistant app in the form of tables, plots and spectrum views. The application also provides ISO 16283 reporting with a single click! The application saves the measurement results as a project containing measurements from the source and receiving rooms for different sound source positions. The project can be downloaded to the SvanPC++ Building Acoustic Software for post-processing purposes.

Sound insulation measurements

2x faster with two sound level meters simultaneously

The Bluetooth interface in the Building Acoustics Assistant App makes it possible to manage two simultaneous connections with two sound level meters. The solution is very convenient whenever sound level meters are located in separate rooms – simultaneously in the source and receiving rooms. The application supports the user by automatically configuring the sound level meters’ settings for dual point measurements. For the user’s convenience, the App can also import previous measurements for calculations, e.g. background noise and reverberation time.

The App provides printable sound insulation reports in the form of MS Excel spreadsheets. The reports are created directly in the App so they can be viewed or emailed at any time. The report contains the apparent sound reduction index in a form of a table of results and a curves plot.

Airborne Sound Insulation

step-by-step ISO 16283 measurement with the mobile App

The Building Acoustics Assistant App is able to measure the Airborne Sound Insulation with one or two SVANTEK sound level meters simultaneously. The application supports the user in measuring sound levels at the source and receiving positions as well as the reverberation time and background noise. All results are used to automatically generate reports in accordance with the ISO 16283 standard. The results section presents the calculated apparent sound reduction index R’w(C;Ctr), standardised level difference DnT,w(C;Ctr) and R’ values in twenty one 1/3-octave bands with central frequencies from 50 Hz to 5 kHz. Both methods (discrete points and scanning) are provided. For the user’s convenience, the App can also import previous measurements for calculations, e.g. background noise and reverberation time.

Impact Sound Insulation

The BA Assistant App supports the measurement of the impact sound insulation in accordance with ISO 16283, both with the use of a tapping machine and rubber ball. Using Bluetooth, the App connects to the SVANTEK sound level meter in real-time and uses the downloaded measurements to calculate the normalised impact sound pressure level L’n,w(C1), standardised impact sound pressure level L’nT,w(C1) and L’n values in twenty one 1/3-octave bands with central frequencies from 50 Hz to 5 kHz. The application allows the user to define more than one source position. Each source section includes additional optional measurements of airborne sound contribution.

The Building Acoustics Assistant App provides an easy-to-use user interface for SVANTEK sound level meters equipped with Bluetooth and the reverberation time measurements option. Using the BA Assistant is very convenient when the sound level meter is mounted on a tripod. The real-time Bluetooth connection between the App and the sound level meter make the setup and downloading the RT 60 results easy. The App guides the user through the reverberation time measurements, offering settings for the Impulse and Decay methods.

Façade Sound Insulation

The BA Assistant App provides an intuitive user interface for measurements of building façade sound insulation. During the configuration, the application presents the user with a graphical example of a speaker position relative to the external wall in accordance with the standard requirements. The Bluetooth interface makes it possible to measure the airborne insulation with two sound level meters simultaneously – at the source outside the building and in the receiving room. For the user’s convenience, it is also possible to import previous reverberation time and background measurements from other projects. The App presents the calculated apparent sound reduction index R’45,w(C;Ctr) and R’45 values in twenty one 1/3-octave bands with central frequencies from 50 Hz to 5 kHz and provides on-site reporting.

STIPA measurements

Mobile app for speech transmission index for public address system measurements

The BA Assistant App supports SVANTEK sound level meters during STIPA measurements. The application connects to the meter to configure the settings and download the results needed for the STIPA calculations in real-time. The setup is quick and easy as the application provides the choice of ready configurations for common standards such as IEC 60268-16, AS 1670.4, DIN 0833-4, PN-EN 60849:2001, PNEN 50849:2017 and PN-B-02151-4:2015. The App allows the user to use the ambient noise in the STI assessment. The measurement screen presents the results including the STI index, STI category (Cat.), LAeq, LCeq, LZeq, results error status (whether the measurement was correct) and modulation indexes m(f1), m(f2) for seven octave bands with central frequencies from 125 Hz to 8 kHz. The application prints an editable MS Excel report once the measurements are completed.

Building Acoustics Assistant App
BA Assistant application supports Svantek sound level meters equipped with the Bluetooth® interface, e.g. SVAN 977 and SVAN 979. The Building Acoustics smartphone application guides the user through the sound insulation measurement procedure in accordance with ISO 16283. Sound insulation results are presented on the display and in the form of a report compliant with the ISO requirements. Application can be used with SP 95 Impact Ball for sound insulation testing in light weight structures. A project containing measurements from the source and receiving rooms for different sound source positions is created during the measurement. The project is saved in the memory of the sound meter along with the measurement files. The user interface allows to preview results in the form of time-history plots as well as numerical values. The application enables to add PHOTOS and VOICE comments to the measurement projects.
